Building Nigeria's AI-Native E-Commerce Marketplace
Paylo is a marketplace platform built for Nigeria — connecting merchants and consumers through mobile-first storefronts, secure transactions, and a buying experience designed for how Nigerians actually shop. NodeShift designed and engineered the platform from scratch, starting in August 2025. Paylo operates under Greyline Innovations Limited.
The Challenge
Nigerian merchants selling online face a fragmented, trust-deficient market. Payment disputes, no-show deliveries, and the absence of reliable checkout infrastructure push most commerce back to DMs and informal arrangements. Consumers, in turn, have little reason to trust a storefront they've never heard of.
What NodeShift Built
NodeShift designed and shipped a marketplace platform that addresses the trust and infrastructure gap directly:
- A storefront merchants can actually own. Nigerian SMEs get a proper mobile storefront wiith products, pricing, variants, and delivery zones, all in one place.
- Payments people can trust. An escrow-based payment layer holds funds securely until orders are fulfilled, protecting both merchants and buyers without requiring either side to take it on faith.
- Four apps, day one. Separate consumer and merchant experiences on both iOS and Android.
What Came Next
Paylo launched with its full app suite live on the App Store and Google Play. It operates under Greyline Innovations Limited and continues to evolve as a platform. NodeShift's role was to conceive, architect, and ship the foundation that made that possible.
